Good organizations rarely need more vague advice. They need to see what’s actually getting in the way, fix the right problem and build something their teams can use.
That’s what LiFT exists to do.
How one cup of coffee turned into two years of conversations – and eventually, LiFT.
LiFT began with two strangers, a small café in Valencia and a conversation neither of us expected to have.
Within minutes of meeting at Café Museo, we discovered we both had battle scars from the non-profit sector and were comparing notes on the things we’d each seen: boards where nobody was quite sure who decided what, excellent programs with no useful way to show what had changed, and grant applications trying to solve problems that had started long before the writing did.
Different organizations. Same pattern: good work was being made harder than it needed to be.
That first conversation became another. Then another.
For two years, we traded ideas over coffees, dinners and drinks, challenged each other’s thinking and probably bored more than a few friends by turning perfectly normal social occasions into conversations about the latest grant or program we were working on.
Eventually, we realized we hadn’t just been boring our friends.
We’d been designing a consultancy.
So we built it.
Meet your consultants
Jessica Marasovic
Jessica is a nonprofit consultant and grant strategist who has spent the past decade helping small and growing organizations strengthen their funding, programs and systems – and communicate their work more clearly.
Her wider career spans more than 16 years across international organizations, grassroots non-profits, youth development, sport for development, operations, project management and donor communications.
She has helped secure and steward more than CAD $2 million in grant funding, with experience across major foundations, corporate funders and public grant programs.
Jessica is especially good at finding the real problem behind the obvious one.
She helps organizations untangle the knot and build something funders, boards, donors and teams can actually use.
Dr. Caroline Doyle
Caroline is a research, policy and governance consultant with 15 years of experience helping organizations make sense of complex social issues and turn them into practical action.
Her work spans justice reform, public policy, qualitative research, evaluation, lived experience engagement, governance, compliance and community consultation.
She has worked with universities, charities, justice-sector organizations and community groups navigating sensitive, messy or high-pressure issues.
Caroline is especially strong at bringing structure, evidence and care to complex work.
She helps organizations ask better questions, involve the right people, understand what they are hearing and turn insight into credible strategies, programs, funding proposals and reports.
